So I scratched my Vstrom...

Went off-pavement riding with some buddies, on the second day I crashed pretty hard, bruised my thigh, scratched up the right fairing and broke off a small piece of black plastic. All cosmetic, but I feel kind of bad that the bike was pristine for 7 years and now after owning it a few months I've beaten it up. I guess that comes with the territory with adventure riding, but I'm still kicking myself for crashing.

Invest in crash bars, if you don't already have them. They have saved my plastic a couple times. Plus you can put stickers on them when you scratch them up...

If your not injured be happy. I've gone down more than once and yes it hurts (the bike) but shit happens. In my case mostly at extreme slow speeds on gravel roads.

Glad YOU are OK.

Love the Flesh Wound, It's like Fearless Fosdick. Classic, no mortal, just Flesh Wounds, no matter how large the hole.
Crashing is what happens when you are trying to stay upright! How do i know that?

I did the same, got a pristine bike and took it offroad, only to scratch the nice pristine plastics. I was annoyed at first but since I've become fine with it. It's got plenty since.

At least the damage occured doing something the bike was meant to do.

Unlike the time I accidently gouged a 2 inch gash into the black paint of my 2-tone gas tank on a former (and formerly pristine) Moto Guzzi with a screwdriver as I was attempting to teach myself to balance the throttle bodies. I still kick myself a dozen years later.

I bought a really nice 78 KZ400 once with a beautiful deep red pearl paint job. I changed the bars the first day I had it and didn't protect the tank. Got a little wild with the ratchet and smacked the tank, chipping the paint. That was also around a dozen years ago, I still think about it.

Mine has been dumb places and has beauty marks to prove it.

I feel sorry for pristine looking ADV type bikes.

I used a get off as a reason to paint the bike a more suitable color.
