I'm my own labor on anything I own, so cost for oil and a filter isnt a factor at all for me. Wet clutch engines, I'd prefer not to have metal particles or clutch material in my oil if I can avoid it. And I can, and do.
Whatever works for you.
Realistically, you dont HAVE to do anything at any time...until it quits.
When EVER in doubt, refer to the 1000 here with 400K plus miles using nothing but car oil and Fram oil filters.
Pretty sure Kith goes with extended oil change intervals as well, and how is/are filtered metal particles mixing around in our oil?
Blackstone oil analysis tells it ALL and many here do that, and that includes any metals in the oil and everything else. I agree that all in all oil is cheap, but I don't ever change my oil until 4k/5K miles, and I always change filter every other change. I'm in the full synthetic oil camp, see no reason to not run full synthetic.
I will also reference the Honda Valkyrie 1500's which I also own, MANY
owners worldwide have 200K miles plus and one guy has over 500K miles, most all owners extend their mileage due to running full synthetic oil. The only reason I change mine at the intervals I do, is a slight decrease in shifting quality, but I am quite confident the oil is still protecting as it should. Paranoia will destroy ya, much more often than an engine being destroyed.
