3D printing solution

Stumbled across this today: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2587691

Parametrically scales and generates the right size plastic rivet doohickey ya need for broken/lost fasteners that hold the fairing together.

I know from experience I wouldn't want to rely on these exclusively, but in a pinch? Sure I would.

Or you can buy 10 of them for 68 cents.

Still, the 3D printer would be way more fun.

True, even from Amazon with next day shipping isn't prohibitively expensive. But there's 'now', 'tomorrow' and '6-8 weeks on the slowest boat from China'.

I bet on the 6-8 weeks like a couple things I've ordered. I'd forgotten I'd ordered the stuff. But for .68$ and free shipping, what could go wrong? Vs the several hundred dollars for the printing machine.
Amazing marketing!

I've got a pair of 3D printers that I use for just about everything where appropriate. Gotta be careful of the pitfall of over-nerding the solution "Will it be worth the effort of modeling something, printing it and iterating till it works? Or will duct tape do and be done?"

These plastic plugs are no reason to go get a printer, but for those that have em already? The first rule of power; abuse it.

Perhaps but I printed a switch mount for my aux lights on my Dl-650 using a 3D printer. I've seen many variations available but I also enjoyed the process. It kept me out of the bars for a couple of hours too.
