What to do with a Wee?

About 18 months ago, I bought a low mileaged Wee as my first bike. I originally bought the bike to build with the goal of running some or all of the New Mexico Backcountry Discovery Route. (NMBDR) Its about 800 miles to the trail, so I needed a mostly street bike that could handle some dirt roads.

In the last 18 months, I've put almost 9,000 miles on her. During that time I've been Fing around with windscreens, brackets, seats, and helmets due to wind buffeting . The buffeting is improved and its fine for my short commute. But I don't look forward to long rides over 65mph.

Well its time to put some tires on her... But I'm not sure the bike is for me.

What do you use your wee for?

I used mine for day rides and some touring. Did not care to commute on a bike after the initial thrill wore off some. 98% pavement riding. It's a better street bike than it is an off-road machine, but if you properly equip it, it can be acceptable on trails. From what I hear.

I ride errands in town, Tour, camp, ride dirt roads, There isn't much the 650 'strom can't do.

Swiss army knife of bikes ....

I've toured for weeks on it and yet without luggage it's a quick agile machine for local rides.

And aside from some stator issues...just about bullet proof.

I ride to work, ride from Manitoba to Alaska, ride 1500 miles in 36 hours. I go camping, go fishing, ride somewhere just for lunch. I've ridden from 35F to 105F in comfort (heated vest+grips / wet shirt under jacket).

By far, the most comfortable bike I've ever owned. What windshield do you have? How tall are you?

I mainly use mine for 300 to 400 mile day rides putting around the back roads of New England. I have also done over-nighters ranging from 2 to 8 days. Mainly pavement with the occasional dirt road, it's great on the highway if you get the windscreen sorted out. It's also great for camping since you load so much on the backseat/luggage rack, and it's quiet enough that I don't wake other campers when I start it up in the early morning.

I just came back from a 5000km ride (7 days of riding) mostly mountain roads, some dirt and love the bike more than ever. She carried my swag, kit and too much other stuff no trouble.

The first thing I did when I bought the bike was put a "laminar lip" on the screen (MRA Xcreen) and Adventure Tech mirror extensions and buffeting is gone completely.

Then I did lots of other mods just for fun

6'4", I have mad-stad tall windshield with his brackets. I cut down the stock windshield, that helps but its still there. I've read a lot of that wind buffeting thread. I do need to pull off my mirrors and test. But I'm 99% sure its coming from the top of my windscreen. I'm using the stock seat, but if I use a taller seat it gets much worse.

And to clarify, the buffeting is enough to blur my vision.
