Hanging it up

No more riding for me, the moto is sold. The Wee was a solid mount, no regrets on that score.

The straw that broke the camel's back was the lack of motorcycle parking in Oakland, CA.

So now I commute to/from work 4 miles each was on an electric assist bicycle - and its great :-)

This forum was/is great - keep it up.

There is life outside Oakland.

no fan of Oakland but some great riding not far in any direction. yeah you would have to choose times like early morning weekend.

If it's not broken, make it better
My take on oil: Name brand, wet clutch compatible.....BAM good to go.

Is there a lack of car parking in the Oakland area as well?

If he was only using his bike for the eight mile RT commute and that was the deal breaker, he wasn't really doing a whole lot of riding anyway. If all I rode was to go four miles to work, I'd quit too. Assuming I read this correctly.

well the main reason for no motorcycle parking in Oakland seems pretty clear.
OAKLAND SUCKS.

I couldn't be bothered gearing up for a 4 mile commute, either. I'd buy a bicycle.

My riding has eased off as I won't ride unless fully geared up - so the ride has to be of reasonable duration. It takes me a good 20 minutes to get the bike out of the garage and to gear up. As I wear shorts and T-shirt (max) with no shoes year 'round, it's much easier to slip on a pair of sandals and to hop into the car.

(I went to friend's funeral yesterday and some other friends didn't recognise me as they'd never before seen me wearing a collared shirt and long trousers.)

No commuting to work for me. Not worth the risk and I like to associate my bike with fun not a conveyance to that work place.
