Now a real Poll with voting: How Do You Feel About Loud Pipes?

Quote:
'Loud pipes save lives' and 'the louder it is the faster it is' are all phrases you’ve probably heard before, but for a lot of people – particularly the non-riding public – loud exhausts prove to be obnoxious. Which camp do you find yourself in?

They're obnoxious. They might save a life in a rare occasion but there are other ways to be safe while being respectful at the same time.

Loud pipes are by far the leading cause of anti motorcycle legislation and HOA rules.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

Great – I want people to hear me before they see me.

Annoyed – You can make horsepower without being obnoxiously loud.
neither, don't care if people can hear me and don't care about horsepower, just like the sound

Not for the pleasure of others but rather out of a sense of respect for others. I don't care to listen to someone's over-loud pipes (or stereo) and I would expect the same consideration from them. If you don't respect others, how can you expect respect from them?

Are you the sort that stacks up the fast lane behind you when you're in no great rush? Do you resist letting faster riders pass you? Just how much about you is it really? Is it necessary for dogs to howl and car alarms to go off for blocks around so you can feel good about your exhaust sound or is there perhaps some middle ground?

I set off a lot of car alarms back in my long hair, ape hanger straight pipe days. Today I like to hear them but not like I used to.
Old Time Rider likes this.

2015 Suzuki V-Strom DL650 bought new 4/26/17
2015 Victory Cross Country bought new 7/11/15 (dyno tuned 118hp 116tq)
If it's not broken, make it better
My take on oil: Name brand, wet clutch compatible.....BAM good to go.

Just looking at your "muffler" I know your bike is loud, like stinkin' loud.

Loud bikes are bad for the sport of motorcycles. They've led to all sorts of restrictions.

You don't have a right to have a loud bike. Others do have a right not to be subjected to it.
