Skip the crash bars?

I had to remove them from my Wee for some work, now it`s time to put them back on, but I`m reluctant for two reasons- first because they are never in the way when they aren`t mounted, and second (the real reason) because I like how the bike looks better without them. I dunno, though- I`m sure it looks nicer with crash bars than with smashed and broken plastics. I might likely get away without ever dumping the bike at any speed, but chances are I will eventually drop it in some kind of parking or maintenance maneuver. How likely is it that damaged fairings will result from a tip over like that?

I have a GIVI skidplate and Hepco Becker engine guards. They are not dependant on each other. The engine guards look beefy on the side of the bike. The crossover piece is a 3/8 in hollow tube that couldn't do much of anything....maybe it would help in garage tipover, but only a gentle one. Bloody useless comes to mind.

I am getting close the pulling the engine guards and replacing with frame sliders. No doubt they are contributing to the buzzines, which really irritates me. If I wanted buzz in my bike, I would have bought a KLR. (I don't do dirt, at least so far. Not much interest on 500lb bike. Bought Vstrom to tour with..)

Haha- I put the roll bars back on yesterday afternoon and dropped it this morning after work! Got off and didn`t set the kickstand right, it fell lright against the edge of my back step- would have been a dandy booboo for sure. Okay, bars will stay on. I do think they are butt ugly, though.
