Adventure Side Case with Givi Xstream 310 help

I have the adventure side case (SW Motech) and recently purchased the Givi Xstream 310 (Expansion Bag). The straps on the Xstream 310 are a little wider than the tie-downs on the side cases. I have been able to push and pull the straps through the side case tie downs, but it takes some time. I recently purchased the camp table, which also uses the tie-down points, so the expansion bag needs to come off. Does anyone have any ideas on how to make this a little quicker with the straps?

Could you cut the straps a bit narrower and seal them with a flame to prevent raveling?

I would have no problem doing that for length, but was concerned they would pull apart when cutting the width.

If the straps are removable, could you just replace the straps with narrower ones?

How about attaching some narrower straps to the tie down points creating a loop then thread the 310 straps through that loop?
