Top 10 Best Things About Riding To Laguna Seca

Quote:
This is merely my subjective list of 10 good things, but there are really no bad things about riding those few hundred miles from MOís SoCal headquarters to the Monterey peninsula; blasting over a few mountain ranges, making time up the spine, toasting the coast. Mother Nature pulled out all the stops in the scenery department, the weatherís perfect, we wangled six great bikes (more on them next week). The fact that itís a World Superbike and MotoAmerica race weekend is really just a bonus.

Actually there are some BAD THINGS about "toasting the coast"
I had the misfortune to be driving that route northbound on 'race weekend Friday' from Santa Barbara along the coast a few years back. Granted I was riding a GW tourer but doing the speed limit, sort of ..thru the 'twisties' along Hwy 1..that is, slowing to about 45mph in "Slow to 30" curves with double yellow lines and 50 in slo to 35's etc..
It was during these times, at least 6 TIMES, groups of 2-3 crotch rockets would SCREAM past, around BLIND CURVES, Double Yellow lines, WRONG SIDE at crazy speeds...time and time again.
I know that this is just someone's way of cleaning up the IDIOT gene pool but, it seems its just not working FAST ENOUGH.
SAVE the RACING for the track !!

How about these:

trusty Sony cam that I used for under way hand held photo's suffered an impact (while stopped) and damaged the lens retraction system, so half the ride has no handheld pic's.

Some "slide show" links to the days that it worked (along with some shot's taken w/the Pentax)...the slide shows don't take that long to "watch/view".
