3 Stroms On the Continental Divide

This coming Saturday 5 of us will be starting the CDT from end to end (hopefully) starting in the south and going north for roughly 3,000 miles. We are allotting a total of 16 days that includes days for flying out and back so 14 days to do the ride.

There are 3 Stroms attempting this trip, 2 Wees and one V, the other guys have a BMW and KTM. I'll post pictures and descriptions when I return. Fortunately we are going to have a support truck.

We are bringing camping gear but probably will be staying at hotels most nights. The plan is to follow GPS Kevin's tracks and I'm planning on staying off the Red "Hard" sections but I could be enticed to try a couple of them.

This is my bike.

More to follow!!!

The trip was awesome!
Only one strom made the entire trip as planned on dirt, not mine.

I had a couple crashes on day 1 and day 2 and was injured to the point I needed a couple days in the support truck so I could ice my ankle and knee. I did return but stuck to the asphalt from Colorado to Banff.
One other strom rider got a virus and them a bladder infection which forced him to ride in a support vehicle.

I was out of my comfort zone doing 70+ mph on sugar sand roads while the others were way more experienced. I just could not keep that kind of pace up and it resulted in a couple spectacular crashes.

Pictures to follow soon but I need to get back to work.

Sorry to hear. One big reason I dislike groups. No one would convince me to ride that fast on sand with a tricked out Baja race bike. Not my cup of tea.

I know this belongs in the "Ride Reports" and I will get that going as soon as I get my pictures organized.

In summary ... I had a blast and fortunately my injuries were relatively minor, I do have an apt with an ortho Dr. on Friday, already had an MRI and Ultrasound done on my knee, no blood clots so that's good news.

1st crash was "Target Fixation" I was going too fast into a left hand corner and I looked right at the ditch that I hit, I know better but it happened. 2nd one was I came around a right hand corner to see the grill of a Jeep, instinctively I grabbed the front brake, too hard and down I went. To add to it the guy behind me ran over me and the bike landed on top of me. We were both going too fast.

Enough of the grim side... Attached are a couple pictures of just a couple AWESOME moments!
More to follow.
