Heading to Alaska solo in 2 weeks, anyone want to tag along?

Hey guys,

I will be leaving Central Fl on July 14 for a ride up to Alaska through Fairbanks and up to Deadhorse, and various other places.

Of course I had 3 other guys going with me and of course 1 by 1 they all backed out.

I am looking for people that might be interested in riding together for a few days once I get up into British Columbia, etc. I will be going through Banff/Jasper NP on the way up and then on the Alaska HWY.

My only requirement is that they be older, fatter, and slower than me so I can outrun them when the bear is chasing us.

I will be hauling ass through the lower 48 so probably no sense meeting anyone until the Banff area or farther north.

I'm a laid back friendly sort, just looking for someone to swap lies and tall tales with around the campfire whilst indlulging in an adult bevg or 2.

Anyone interested?

Unfortunately I've got too many things on the summer agenda to be able to go along. And that would be my third motorcycle trip to AK anyway.

One thing I would advise is to take the Cassiar Highway at least one way on your round trip. The Alcan is frankly pretty boring and offers mostly scenic views of Winnebago back bumpers, while the Cassiar has much less traffic, much more wildlife and some scenic excursions (Stewart/Hyder and the Salmon glacier, also Telegraph Creek if you want some adventure) along the way. Last time I took the Cassiar both ways, which I would do if I were going again.

Thanks for the info. I plan on taking Cassiar on the way back, and taking in Hyder and probably Salmon glacier as well. Telegraph sounds like too much for this trip but you never know...

I'll be arriving in BC (Cranbrook) on the 29th for a 4 day loop, you'll probably have passed by already. As you go through bc, make sure you lookup the many hotsprings. I'm envious , I won't make it to AK until summer of 2017.

I will definitely try to post some RRs as I go along. It will obviously depend on internet access, and available time. I'll be camping mostly and not always at commercial campsites so wifi at the end of the day might be scarce at times...

From Fl. to AK. WOW. You should film this and call it "The Long Way Up".

OP you REALLY want to make sure you add Valdez and the Kenai Fjord area to your agenda. It is the best part of ALaska in my view.

The Keyhole Canyon into Valdez is spectacular and take the Lulubelle for a lifetime experience

there are other Alaska galleries here

Now weather can be iffy for the lower western portion so it's a bit of luck. As you can see...we got the luck.
