Economy run results

After checking the mpg on my K3 DL1000 and finding a meager 38 mpg I tried an economy run. The results were an astounding 54 mpg! The roads, all two lane, included many elevation changes and twisties that I typically ride here in S.E. Ohio. I did not dawdle around either but did not exceed an indicated 63 mph.

Has anyone else ever tried to achieve a high mpg? I'm also curious as to what kind of mpg a Wee could get if someone actually tried.

The best I ever got was 53 MPG on a highway run - so very much in the same ballpark. Most tanks in the city these days wind up around the 32 - 35 MPG range.

i did it with my wee over about 90 miles of two-lane just cruising along at around 60mph. i got 59.7 mpg .

the worst i've seen on my wee is 37mpg and that was fully loaded riding into a strong headwind at 80-90mph. i've also seen about that same consumption during a sport ride chasing literbikes WOT most of the time.

Thanks guys. There doesn't seem to be much interest in conservation.

My highest has been 58 MPG and my lowest was 43. This is with 18000 miles logged and under a lot of different conditions. I typically run about 52 all through the summer and 47 through the winter. I've experimented with staying easy on the throttle and keeping the revs down -- that only helped a little. I've also tried taking a longer trip on back roads with little traffic where I could keep the speed reasonably constant between 45 and 55 MPH. That was the most effective. I've read elsewhere that even better MPG can be achieved by keeping the speed even slower, like in the 35 to 45 MPH range, but that's just too tedious for me

I like touring the small roads every chance I get

I can do 69mpg (Cdn Gallon) with my 650 riding conservatively. I think that if I really tried I could get around 73 or 74, but what fun would that be. Normally I get around 55 or so while still enjoying the ride

I've only seen 50 mpg twice. Once chasing a KLR and once riding with the Harley boys...(read "slow")

So far my 2K has gotten between 33 and 40 mpg with an average of about 36.
I haven't had it long enough to be able to do an economy run, though!
Maybe when the "new" wears off.
I just can't keep off the throttle yet - especially now that I have the pipes on.
