It is a beautiful thing to ride when it's going, but when it needs to be repaired it ... the swear filter here will probably have a conniption if I get going about this. Let's just say that as nice as it is to ride, I've missed my last Strom since the day I sold it and am getting another one to replace the BMW.

As for the Hardley Driveable, I refer to that as a second rate water pump engine. It's even more agricultural than the BMW, except any self-respecting farmer would be using a Honda powered pump.

I will add that after any time I ride my wife's Triumph Tiger 800 the motor on my DL1000 feels like a tractor as well. (I'm installing the @realshelby Clutch Basket fix this weekend hoping it will smooth things out a bit but suspect it will always feel like a tractor compared to her Triumph.)

ran rotella T in my 2012 triumph tiger and the gearbox was like it had rocks/sand in it. switched to mobil 1 10/40 and everything was happy again. Going to switch to syn when my '18 strom hits 1000 miles and hoping it smoothes out the 1-2nd shift.

Unfortunately not in Canada (yet). Want to try 15w40 on my upcoming ride in July out to Utah, Oregon and Washington, Vancouver ad then back across Canada.

Was it you that suggested 15w40 works better in the newer DL1000. Up until now have you been using Rotella T5 15w40?

Yet T-6 15-40 is not rated for use in gasoline engines. Just like T-6 5-40.

Not telling anyone not to use it. I did use it. But not any longer. There is no reason I can think of that Shell would not want to sell all of this they can. So the reformulation has changed something that makes it no longer acceptable ( by Shell at least ) for gasoline engine use. While it could be marketing, as they have some Rotella oils for gasoline use, I just cannot see eliminating the API designation it once held for gasoline engines.....as a marketing ploy.

When I did run Rotella I ran the 15w-40 Conv T4, it shifted much better than the T6 syn. I'm not sure how this new 15-40 syn will work. Someone needs to be the guinea pig. The T6 5w-40 was garbage IMHO.

I suspect it is the new CK4 rating. They just also released a multi-vehicle T6 that is gas rated.

There certainly is a T6 15w40 that is rated for motorcycles. I was looking at the datasheet earlier this week and posted the ratings in this post:

https://www.stromtrooper.com/5398811-post2595.html

I think there is another version that is not rated for gas engines though.
