Changes for 2009

Heard that the V gets a shaft drive.Has anyone heard of changes to the WEE and when do the 09's arrive ? I've been looking at an 08-black locally, but the dealer wont budge.

One rumor is both V-Stroms will cease to exist in their present form and will be replaced by an 800. Only time will tell.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s
See https://www.stromtrooper.com/general-...nicknames.html

Please vote in the poll on what Strom(s) you have at https://www.stromtrooper.com/informat...-you-have.html

People need to POST LINKS to things they see, hear or read, otherwise its just more verbal diarrhea. Same thread topic comes up about once every 2 weeks and never goes anywhere.

Now flying the Team Orange colors (yes, I went to the dark Dakar side and bought a KTM...)

Here we go again...
I'll jump in.
I think it's really likely that we will see some new liter-sized twin in the near future. I think it's likely because the SV1000 is ripe for a redesign, and the current 1k has obviously been crutched for emissions to the extent that it is in an "odd" state of tune. Whether that will be seen in a Strom-style bike will be interesting.
I can see them going to a single 800, but that would be a little disappointing. The Wee is a great little commuter, and the Vee is a torque monster. The 800 might be the best of both, or more likely a boring compromise of both.

Maybe they'll do what BMW did and make it 650 but put a "modified" 800 motor in it (still think that was a silly idea, even for BMW). Or better yet, maybe they'll just leave things as they are because it works.

I heard it's going to be a shaft on one side, and a belt on the other. Plus, the 650 V-Twin will be modularized to allow installation of a third cylinder (in a 'W' configuration), so that you can convert from 650cc to 975cc and back at will.

I'd be happy with a belt-drive conversion kit. Ride safe, ride often.
