dl650 with ABS, what are my chances??

I'm not quite ready to shop, but what do ya'll think my chances are of finding a DL650 with ABS? I would prefer used with lots'o'farkle ,but even looking for a new one is tough. Looks like dealer in OKC might have one.

Depends on your location, your patience and your determination. If you are in Oklahoma (OKC???) that can work to your advantage, you should be able to buy in any state and take the bike home with no trouble.

I've seen 3 nicely farkled pre-owned ABS machines for sale in about that many months. One I bought, and the other 2 were for sale outside of California. I would have been happy to buy any of the 3. But the 2 out of state bikes I would have had lots of trouble buying them and getting them registered in my state. It is likely, you would not have had that problem.

It can be done, but can it be done on your terms? That is up to you.

Local dealer in Tucson has a black ABS DL650 sitting on the showroom floor. They have a blue DL1000 as well, at least they had both on them on Saturday when I was up there.

I'm in Arkansas. Is there something special about bringing purchased bike in from another state??

Just checked dealer in Fayetteville, AR close to me and looks like they website says they have one. Hmmmm But, I would like to find one already "done up" with gear and already broke in a bit.

Most dealers claim they have one but really don't. It's worth calling them.

I flew 1500 miles to ride one home because I wanted one badly enough.

Used ones are fairly rare and tend to command a high price.

In California out of state Stroms have to have 7500 miles on them so buying new out of state doesn't work. I think the reason has something to do with emissions.

If I remember correctly the two out of state used ABS bikes I saw for sale were both under 7500 miles. I wouldn't have been able to buy them either.

I haven't heard of other states that have the same requirements.

I think all ABS DL650s meet CARB standards. I believe it's only used bikes that don't meet CARB requirements that need to have 7500 miles on them. I know that's a lot of thinking and believing but you can check it out.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

That sounds right. I think I understood the situation when I was bike shopping but it didn't make sense and I now I don't remember the rules.
