Front fender: ABS plastic?

Is the front fender really made out of ABS plastic.

I'm planning on re-modifying mine and am considering using ABS pipe glue to attach a "patch" to fill in the thin spot where the tire rubbed.

Has anyone ever tried such foolishness?

My fenda extenda is attached with ABS pipe glue and it's solid as a rock. I had it off this weekend and it's strong like one single piece of plastic.

Pull the fender. It should be marked on the underside for recycling purposes.

I does have "ABS" embossed on the underside.
The question arose when I realized I have Anti-Lock Brakes.

Thanks for the info.

When I had an old Apache popup camper that had ABS in place of the canvas, I learned a good trick to patch ABS.

You'll need some ABS plastic in the desired color, as well as MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone, available at big box hardware stores in the paint section).

Get a glass (IMPORTANT) jar with a lid, and grind up the abs, or shave it in to small pieces. Set this aside. Pour some MEK in the jar, and start adding shavings, stirring to dissolve with a metal or wood rod, until you get a thick 'liquid plastic'. You can now use this to patch ABS, and it will chemically fuse to the ABS surface you are patching and become one piece of plastic.

This is exactly why I became a $tromtrooper.

Thanks a lot.
