Angry $20 to fill up the Wee !

NEVER in my life did I think I would ever have to pay $20 to fill up a motorcycle.

It was bone dry, but still....

$18.53 the other day and I was thinking the same thing "that's the most I ever paid to fill a motorcycle". I wasn't bone dry at the time so yeah, I'll be seeing a $20 fill up before too long.

And when I do... this will be me :bom_furious3: and maybe a bit of this and wishing at times I could be doing this

The trick is to fill up when you're at 1 quarter left. I've been under $14 most of the time that way, and the comments from other people who are threatening to get a motorcycle because of how pissed they are helps me too. At any given time you pull into a gas station, you'll be getting better mileage than 95 percent of the people there, on a 650 anyway.

It sux, huh? Here's a way to make yourself feel better about the whole thing. Fill up next to someone with a huge suburban or escalade and when you're done exclaim in a loud and indignant voice "Twenty Dollars! I can't believe it takes twenty dollars!" It's great fun to see their faces as their pump rages towards $140.

I drive a GMC Sierra 5.3 l and regularly get 70-90$ bills at the pump - as well as comments like - don't you wish you had a little car or something. (I do but trying to haul an ATV or 2 sleds or an 18ft boat with a Corolla isn't a challenge I'm up) My usual reply is that I only drive to the pumps and fill up my 25 gal tank since it's easier to fill than 5-5 gal cans and haul them home so I can fill up the Wee whenever I need to.

This usually gets them thinking. In the meantime, still getting around 56 mpg with the Wee. It's amazing how much groceries you can get in 2 Givi 41s and a 52 top case.

$20 for a fill up? I wonder why? $20 to $120 in less than 6 years (thanks NeoCons) have anything to do with it?

When one stops and thinks about it, I'm actually surprised we are less than $4 per gallon with oil going up 5 times in just over 5 years.

We need a bike that runs on beer.

We'll always have something to drink no matter where we go.

We can have beer wars with other countries

Not too many people complain about spending $3 for a bottle of beer.

You have a built in excuse for not going to work "Boss, I can't come in today, I drank my gas tank dry while playing poker last night"

You can run a straw down to your filler while stuck in traffic, mount a monitor behind your windscreen to watch movies on, and install a pretzel bowl ram-mounted to your handle bars.

Hey, I'm just thinking out loud here....

I think the gmc 5.3 is a pretty efficient motor for a v-8, rhbell. My friend has an extra cab 4by4 w/ the 5.3 and we recorded 21mpg going to and from a car show the other day. Its a big improvement over the 14.3 I used to regularly get w/ my 1992 5.7 gmc, anyway.
