How do I pull a headlight connector?

I have a ride tomorrow morning and I'll need every watt I can come up with. So I want to pull a headlight connector and spend the 55W on heated jackets.

I flipped the little cover off of the back of the headlight connector. I can see the two wires and their metal tabs. But I can't figure out how they come out of there. I don't want to pull in the wrong direction.

So, how do those connectors come out of there? Do they slide up or down, come straight back or snap out somehow?

Thanks.

You just wiggle and pull the connector off. They pull straight out. In the following picture, the socket is the same as what you are pulling out and the coupler is pronged just like the headlight bulb. This is for an example of the connections only. The stock bike does not have relays or the other wiring.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

Thanks Pat, I was going about it all wrong. I was going to try and pull the wires out of the socket. Now I'll try and pull the whole socket.

I didn't need to flip that little door up on the back of the connector either.

This is very helpful.
