So, I have an Olympia Airglide 2 jacket and Olympia mesh pants, both seem a little warm in the Texas heat and its only April. Are there other options, especially in mesh jackets , that are cooler. I love my Olympia but it seems a little heavy....Bill
check out Cortech. I can't remember the name of my jacket, but it has leather on the padded areas, mesh everywhere else, and 2 liners. My pants are the cortech flex series, and they are GREAT!
I use these pants seem very good just zip out liner for summer.
I am planning to ride in shorts and these riding pants...gets hot and very humid he in Ky.
I've been wearing the TPG pants for the past couple of months (with and without liner), but they're gonna be way too hot for summer in New England. Mesh pants are the way to go.
I wrote a short review down in the Product Reviews section. As with any pant, if you are just sitting around in the sun you'll start baking...but once you get moving there's tons of airflow to cool you off.
I use the Fieldsheer 4-season pants, as they had the most mesh coverage (i.e. fewest solid fabric panels) at the time that I bought them. They also come in silver/gray, which reflects a lot of the sun's heat.
I wear a Shift Airborne jacket for the same reasons - lots o' mesh and silver color. I'm sure I look a little like a space man, but at least I'm not a par-broiled space man!

bneedles, I have an Airglide 2 also, and last summer replaced it with the Rev'it Air jacket -- a little more mesh, top quality, and the collar isn't a torture device like the Olympia's. Rev'it quality is up there with BMW and Aerostitch gear, but not so expensive. Got it at Lonestar BMW/Triumph up on Lamar between Rundberg and Braker. Check em out, they have awesome staff (say hi to Denise) and carry a lot of good gear. Besides Rev'it they also have Tourmaster/Cortech, Olympia, Vanson, Firstgear (I think) and several others. I also got a pair of Rev'it Challenge mesh pants that I like a lot, the first pants I've found that actually fit my skinny legs.

Has anyone tried these pants for commuting. I will be wearing jeans under them for work. Temps and get in the 100's and humidity in the 90%. I like the fact they look like they could be worn in the colder weather also.
I have a set and I love them! I rode with them at 10 degrees in January, and I have worn them at 90+ this month. I have yet to use the liners in cold weather, and the ability to change them in so many ways is great. They fit me a bit baggy, but I wear them over my uniform and they are really easy to get on and off.
Like my compadre, Faulkner, I too enjoy my Phoenix jacket but I'd appreciate some recommendations for hot weather pants. Right now I've got the Rocket Ballistic 5's, which I like, but might be a bit warm for the summer.
Cheers,
Rob
I have had the joe rocket alter ego pants which were pretty good (I heard the ballistic 5.0 are much warmer). Now I have motoport kevlar air mesh wich rock all around minus the 3x cost. Better protection, comfort, 100 percent waterproof, better armour etc. In the value category olympia is supposed to be great (I have a AST, and bushwacker) and I'm sure many on here will reccomend.
I bought the tour master venture air pants and an olympia 4 seasons jacket. I've never had any other biker gear, but feel safer w/ this stuff on than the multiple coverall combo I used all winter. The pants are mesh w/ removable rain and insulation liners and the jacket's liners are the same. I was a little warm on 80+ degree days when sitting @ lights, but I'll take some extra heat instead of riding around dressed like richard simmons like some people I've seen around here. Used this combo in several frog strangler rainstorms, and some type of neck protection is needed to prevent rain from sneaking down the jacket collar and dousing your man boobs w/ precipitation, otherwise good.
If price is further down the list than protection and durability in a crash, this is about as good as it gets: http://tinyurl.com/3lcc2u
I have the Kevlar Air Mesh II jacket and pants and they work well in all types of weather. I did a USA 4 Corners ride (12k miles) last summer and it worked well, even in triple digit temperatures sitting on top of a GL1800.
I will be using this suit for my BIG RIDE in June, again in all types of weather, on the VEE.
What would you all recommend for very hot-weather only duty where price and to some extent maximum protection is a secondary concern?
I have leathers for cooler weather or hard-riding, but too often I'm tempted to just go in a shirt for the short scoots, just because its so dang warm.
BTW, a bit off-topic, but since this is a "warm weather gear" thread, that would include helmets:
I heard you can order it for $400, and the review at webbikeworld was very positive, but I'd hate to get something I couldn't try on first. Not for sale in US.
