Amsoil question

For those of you who use Amsoil, where do you purchase it? I went down to my local Cycle Gear expecting to find it, but they don't carry it. I went on line looking for distributors and I got 3 in my local area, but I was expecting some type of chain stores, but I got back people's names. A little confusing.

I don't use it, not since the mid-90's. But a lot of those who sell it are individuals, not brick-and-mortar retail stores; they are kind of like Tupperware sales people. This is the kind of seller I bought from, he was a one-man shop auto mechanic, and I used it in a Volkswagon I drove at the time. The few stores that do sell it may not carry enough flavors of it to include the motorcycle specific oils. May need to buy it on-line, or have one of those local fellows order what you want.

Thank, I'll give the locals a call and see what they say or use another brand.

It's like Amway, Avon and Tupperware. It's handled by a network of individuals who recruit others to sell and so on. Hey! I managed to write that without using the word pyramid.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.

It has nothing to do with pyramid marketing .
It's for sale in Canadiantire nationally and other stores .
It's just oil ,that's all , but better quality than most .
I have an account so that I can buy it cheaper than the stores and I've never been pressured to sell to others .
IMHO ,Mobil 1 is equally good , --- YMMV !

The Amsoil marketing plan may be seen at http://www.train-them-well.com/page25.htm and http://bestsyntheticoil.com/dealers/dealer-policies.pdf
It's good oil with an atypical marketing plan.

Guess I won't use Amsoil. I really don't care for this type of marketing. Just me...

IMHO Amsoil is the best oil you can run through your bike. Don't be turned off just because of how it's marketed. I can get anyone the contact info of a few guys you can deal with online if you want

Does Amsoil have their own refineary, or do they buy from another oil manufacturer?

It isn't refined (in the usual sense) as it is not produced from oil. It is synthetic (the semi synthetic uses refined oil of course and as such is likely bought from someone)
