Rusting bolt on the exhaust..... is this normal?

Granted I've been riding around a lot in the rain, but I've had my bike for about a month and a half now and I noticed a rusted bolt on the exhaust pipe...

So should I be concerned? replace it? Or is it like a catalyst rod in hot water tanks... it corrodes so the rest doesn't?

The first pic is the area where I found the bolt, the second a more detailed shot of the rusty bolt.

That plug is in the hole used by the oxygen sensor on Euro spec bikes. It rusts as you have discovered. It isn't sacrificial, just out of the way and cheap. Forget about it.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.

It isn't a bolt but a plug. Leave it alone. It's an odd size and hard to get out.

One of many components that can and will rust on the 'Strom; who cares! Ride it!

"How rare that we can point ourselves inevitably west and go, go, go. Run out the highway and the hills. Slide our fingertips over the creases and the valleys of the impossibility that is America.
