Post Test riding my first strom

Hey guys

I will be test riding my first v-strom in the morning. It's a DL-1000 with a givi top case with 13K and some change on the odometer. I am currently riding an '05 HD Electra Glide. I do about 20K a year. I was wondering what the differences were between the wee and the 1000 beside the obvious differences of seat height and engine size. I am just trying something different. I don't think I will get rid of the HD. From reading here you all seem to really love the Stroms! What do you all love about your bikes? How comfortable is the passenger on long trips?

Thanks a lot

Christoph Gage

Oh I am 5'10 190 and 29 years old if that matters any

Pillions are pretty well looked after ,not as good as a Goldwing but pretty good .
This is an ugly bike in my opion which is GOOD, you and your bike do not have to prove a thing. It looks better dirty than clean so maintance is easy, wash it a couple of times a years . Spend your time riding not cleaning , go down dirt roads and see where they lead ,you will find some amazing places just off the main highways all around the world . These are really reliable motorbikes with only a few things that you would possible change, nothing you have too change. I ride a wee but I would consider getting a 1000 if the price differrence was not $3,000 between the 650 and 1000 downunder .I would like a bit more power but I,m happy on the 650,I just use the gears a bit more. Downunder the maximum speed lomit is 60MPH and if you are doing 20 MPH over any limit you can loose your licence on the spot .We have speed cameras everywhere some will even pick you up for 2 MPH over the limit ! So high speed riding is high risk of loosing your licence.
