650 Odometer on Crack!!

I have a 2010 Dl 650 and I noticed today that a ride of less that 200km added up on the odometer to almost 1000 km! Has anyone else had this problem? Solutions? Thanks in advance.

I've never heard of that one. The speedo and odo take inputs from a sensor on the front axle next to the left fork leg. It's #11 at 2011 Suzuki V-Strom (DL650) SPEEDOMETER (DL650 L1 E28) | MRCycles

The sensor sends a pulse every time on of the four lobes passes the fixed part of the sensor. There isn't anything I can think of that would make it send extra pulses. The speedometer uses the same pulses. Is it reading okay? If you got the reading from a trip odometer, maybe you forgot to reset it.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

Did this just happen suddenly? Seems pretty strange on a bike several years old.
