Hi Everyone,

I have been a member of the forum for a while whilst hunting for my first bike, passed my mod 2 just over a week ago and put my Varadero 125 up for sale straight away :-)

Been looking at all sorts of bike recently to find my first big bike and test rode all sorts, triumph sprint st 1050, Yamaha tdm, wk 650i, V-Strom 650, Kawasaki ZZR 1200 to name a few but in the end I went for this :-)

Really happy with her just wish the weather was better for the ride home yesterday, first time riding her, she had new tyres on as well and it pished it down :-(

The sun is out today tho so after a few hours in the garden (just to please the missus) I will be out and about to meet strange men dressed in leather hanging around car parks :-)

Welcome to the club. Rain? I rode all Sunday and no drop of the rain (350 km ). I rode Monday (in fact in your area) and even nicer weather. This time 400km. What a blast.

nice bike! I happened to have one just like it. bought new in 2004 and after the usual tweaks that the early models required it has been a great bike.

Greetings Stan,
Nice bike. Fast color.

Also be sure to check our DL1000 specific section at DL1000 - 2002-2012 - Stromtrooper Forum : Suzuki V-Strom Motorcycle Forums
There is lots of great technical info there.

Well make CAREFUL choices its still a top heavy 1000

PLEASE get a minimum of
Jacket with Armor
Good actual riding boots at least covers your ankles
Decent gloves with some armor

This stuff is not really an OPTION

Also no passengers for at least 3000 miles

Go with God

Looks like you need crash guards, center stand, front fender extender, racks for Givi luggage. I would guess a fork brace. Might need to switch out that seat if it is uncomfortable after a long ride.

Great looking bike. So many possibilities and add-ons. Ride safe.
