Well thanks to "Phatguy" Jim very graciously allowed me to ride his brand spanking new 1000 today. As some of you know, I have been around Stroms and this forum for quite some time, so I know a thing or two about them. Well......as for the overall riding experience today, let's just say I was left very impressed. The handling of that bike is just superb, it genuinely felt as nimble as my WR250r and there is zero top heaviness. The brakes and suspension are light years ahead of even the new 650, and the transmission and gearing is on par with the best I have experienced. Chudder and fueling issues are non existent, I rolled on hard going 35 in 4th gear and even in 5th gear and it just took right off with no vibration or ill effects whatsoever. Bike is just scary smooth and deceptively fast, I could really get in trouble on it. In the twisty stuff I just looked where I wanted to go and it went, the new suspension and chassis is planted and quite excellent right out of the crate. Matter of fact the only complaint I had was the idle speed being set too low, but it caused no issues at all. The seat was surprisingly comfortable, and I thought the overall fit and finish of the bike and rider ergonomics as a whole was very good. So yeah, I came away very impressed and feel Suzuki did a fabulous job. Hate to say it, but this bike is so easy to ride, it would actually be a good choice for even novice riders.....NOT that I am condoning or encouraging that in the least bit, but it really is a well put together and easy to ride package. So now I know what it is like, and now I want one!!!!
Nah I can be patient, I still love my well equipped 2006, but I think the new super vee has now taken my top choice as my next steed. Hopefully Gwolf will not move this to the 2014 section, I would like to see it stay here in general discussion and see the comments, curiosities and experiences from others added to mine.
Just love that khaki color by the way, looks really good to me and it is different.
