Sturgis Bound?

If any Stromtroopers are headed to Sturgis for this year's rally, and you need any assistance with advice or ride suggestions or help with your bike or whatever, just PM me and I'll try to help.

I'd really like to visit Sturgis, but I'm not sure I'm brave enough to be one of the few non-cruiser types in amongst 1.3 bazillion Harleys.

Bad enough riding in Phoenix during bike week...

It is my sincerest desire to NEVER visit Sturgis during or around the time of the rally.

I've only been to Sturgis twice, once in Sept. 77 and Sept. 2012. Great riding and surprisingly, plenty of bikes enjoying it.
I really tried to push myself to go for the rally this year, but after checking lodging prices, it's not a place for those on SS.
I even thought of camping, but the heat and storms there, cancelled that thought.
For those that go, would like to hear a report and see some pics.

I ended up going thru Sturgis last year during bike week by accident. was on my way back from western Canada. hung around a little just to say I had done it. (didn't spend the night, too many $$$) not my kind of party but the Harley crowd was nice to me.

Deadwood

Hi Carter, Couple harley guys I know from work left on Thursday headed that way. I recommended they go through spearfish canyon while out there - you sent me through there last year and it was a highlight of my trip. I will be headed out west in Sept again and I was thinking about stopping in Deadwood. I know it's got all the casinos, but also seems to have some restored area and maybe a nice visit. Have you been there? Jamie

Hey Jamie,
Good to hear from you! If you do come thru in September and want to get together let me know. We could go for a hills ride or meet up in Deadwood.

Spotted a flock of adventure sport bikes this morning on my commute. I rode like crazy to catch up to them, then they turned off in a direction I couldn't go. Also spotted a pack of KLR 650s yesterday.

I was fortunate to be able to attend Michael Lichter's Motorcycles as Art exhibit at the Buffalo Chip last night.

The guy that made this bike was staying with the group I joined. It is really the only good picture I have. The rest is just gobs of motorcycles parked anyplace and every place in Deadwood, Hill City, etc.
