I ordered a set of the Cree driving lights after reading the Walmart light thread here. They came in within a week of ordering them. Got a set of the Cree lights, a switch for the bars, fuse box (not used since I tied into the relayed "switch on" terminal block which is fused already), a PIAA bar for under the fairing and the swivel mounts for the crash bars. Went to Autozone and picked up some plug in terminals and wire.
I had the two mounting options (under the fairing or on the crash bars). Perhaps should have gone with the bars but thought that if I laid the Wee down, it would break the lights where they may survive under the fairing. Made sense at the time......
Also figured since I would be lifting the tank and taking off the plastics, this would be a good time to wire in the Eastern Beaver relay kit to the front headlights.
Well, time to get to work on Moonshadow.....
Took off all the plastics and mounted the bracket under the fairing lip for the PIAA bar.
Fitted in the Eastern Beaver kit onto the bike and used the ziplock that came with the PIAA bracket hardware and taped it all off.
Ran the wires under the tank inside a wire tube (in hopes of reducing any wear on the wires - I had two wires short out under my tank on the Valkyrie one time - which was ummmm....interesting to have smoke coming out from your tank at a gas station). Afterwards I tie wrapped everything up. The Eastern Beaver wires went to the battery.....
Wired the lights into the relayed "switched on" box under the seat.
The positive wire went to the bar mounted switch.
Made up tees so that both lights worked off the single Positive and Negative. Buttoned everything up and here is the final results.
That is with the main lights being on HIGH BEAM.
Looks and works great. And I mean, less than $100 for everything.
