Tailor knee armor position lower in riding pants?
I have a pair of Joe Rocket Alter Ego 2.0 pants that actually fit me pretty well, which is no small feat, as I typically wear a 34-36 inch waist and 36 length in jeans/slacks. They come in tall sizes, and are actually long enough. However, the knee armor, even in its lowest position, sits on top of my knee/thigh when sitting on the V-Strom. I have long thighs in proportion to my lower legs. Because of this, I either don't use the armor when wearing them over my work clothes to commute, or if riding on the weekends and wearing them as riding pants, I wear motocross knee/shin guards underneath instead.
Seems like a tailor should be able to modify the pants such that I could put some d30 or similar armor (or the Joe Rocket CE armor they came with) further down the leg, maybe by stitching in some velcro panels lower down the interior of the pant leg.
Has anyone had their riding pants modified in this fashion? Is it a fairly simple thing to have done?
