Luggage with lots of room and good pillion comofort

Hi there, new to the forum, been riding a 2007 DL650 since mid December and preparing to go on our first Euro-Tour come Summer.

Anyway, I'm wondering if people have recommendations for luggage with lots of room but adequate pillion comfort? I initially looked at the Givi E41's but found from looking at pictures that there might be little to no foot/leg room for the pillion, I then have looked at the V35's as they seem to have more space for the pillion but at the cost of been a bit wider.

This is probably more aimed at those in Europe, as no doubt availability is different here in the UK to US(unless it's major brands, i.e. Givi), but are there any specific recommendations for side luggage with lots of room/volume whilst taking into account pillion comfort?

Thanks for any help,
Seigi.

For pure storage volume, it's hard to beat a Pelican style case. I use the much cheaper Duratool version. They don't interfere with my passenger at all. Since they are square and not conformal shaped, you can get a lot more stuff into them (more usable volume). If you set them up with a quick release, they are really easy to take off the bike into the hotel room, and you can lay them down and pack them like a suitcase. The downside is that they aren't as aesthetically pleasing as a Givi or similar style, but I can live with that. I looked on line, and both the Pelican cases and the Duratools are available in the UK (the Duratools from Amazon UK). There are photos in my photo albums that show what they look like on a 2012 DL650.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the suggestions, especially yours Woodentoy, very useful site! I can see from looking at pictures on there that the V35's don't stick out much more, if at all, than the E41s.

Teevee - I've been looking at sites similar to that one, by searching for luggage through Ebay and choosing to show all those within European Union.

RCinNC, that looks like a good solution but involves a lot of DIY and I'm quite DIY-inept, something I need to change I know. As you say, the aesthetics aren't particularly pleasing either.

E41 work ok with passenger and they are much bigger then V35 (talking about volume). In my opinion one of the best cases on the market. Also very convenient with this small door opening. I don't know how you can even compare Pelican cases to E41. Thay are so narrow! I can fit 2 full face helmets in Givi. Can you do that with Pelican cases?

While I would have to agree about the E41 having a larger capacity what I liked most about the E35 bags is that they sit a lot lower. If you look at the comparison photos the 41s look like they are higher or as high as the passenger seat while the 35s are actually lower than the turn signals. This also makes a big difference when you're throwing your leg over. IMHO

As long as the country is within the EU you don't pay any custom/duty taxes. The cheapest I've found is from a shop in Spain. is £90 for the rack and £210 for the cases, so £300 in total (Including shipping charges). In the UK it'd be more like £400 + Shipping.
