New cold weather riding record for me today

I'd ridden in as low as 17 degree weather before. Got up this morning and the thermometer and news agreed that it was 11 degrees outside so I made a quick 14-mile round-trip out to the closest gas station to my house and back. Had to ride part of the way with the face shield up because it was icing up badly enough on the inside to the point where I could barely see through it anymore. WAHOOO!!! Fingertips got REALLY COLD but other than that I stayed decently comfortable.

Congratulations!

I, too, thought I would give it a shot this morning. Then, with a hot cup of coffee in hand, I looked at my weather station and saw that it was 12 degrees. Perhaps I will wait a while...

Dressing for cold is one thing, but cold and a little moisture makes for some black ice. Not much you can do about that. I know of a couple guys that "braved" the cold only to fall victims of that unseen ice.

You guys be careful out there.

I've had anxious encounters with frozen dumpster juice on an otherwise dry cold day.

I did 10 degrees with blowing sleet in Texas a long while back...before heated grips and the Gerbing. With the right gear it's not too bad until the dreaded ice monster shows up.
Good on you for having a go at it. Like the loonies that go jumping inn the arctic ocean on Jan 1st....someone has to do it.

Watch this ice crash and if you have enough brains to rule your ego, you bike will stay parked.

F that nonsense...

I rode at 35 degrees once and that was cold enough for me.

Strom owner's manual says do not tow a trailer.
Luggage rack isn't big enough or strong enough to carry my generator.
How else am I gonna power enough heated gear for me to have on a T-shirt and jeans under my riding jacket.

I went for a cold adventure ride today also for about an hour an a half. 25 degrees. I think that was a record for me also. Gerbing heated jacket liner was awesome. T5 gloves were at their limit. Feet really got cold. Guess what UPS brought today. Hot Hands footwarmers. Now I'm ready. Didn't see another bike on the road.
