I didn't come off an FJR, but I did have larger bikes prior to the DL 650. The only area that I really find lacking on the V-strom is when you have to cross large chunks of country riding loaded two up on the interstate. Yeah, I know, "get off the interstate" is a common reply, but sometimes you have limited time and a long way to go, and the slab is the only way to do it. I know others in here will differ with my opinion, but my experiences at riding at a sustained 85 mph with a load and a passenger is that the bike is very close to the limits of its performance. On those occasions, I would much prefer a bigger bike than the 650.
Overall, I've had more fun on the 650 than on any other bike I've owned, and I would hate to part with it. In a perfect world, I'd want the V-strom and the FJR in my garage.
