Chain strechinnngggggg.

Well after my ride last week of 1677 miles, I have noticed after 20K my chain is really starting to stretch. I have had to adjust it 2 times this week alone. I hope I can get by till winter. Is this one of the first signs its going? Sprockets still look good and chain is not lifting off, and teeth still apear straight.

One other note: I am taking my MSF advance rider course tomorrow. Never had one before but have been riding for 37 years. I am not sure what to expect. I will let ya'll know monday.

A need for frequent chain adjustments is one of the last signs the chain needs to be replaced. The sealed in lubrication is no longer working and wear is accelerated. There is no way to really replace it either.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

If you hit 20k your doing quite good, and better than most. Its not really worth the risk of keeping it on. A rear wheel brake lockup, or a chain in the crankcase will put a sour end to a good riding season

dl650k5 -fully farkled- 65k miles. Sold but not forgotten
