Who paid less than $3000 for a V-Strom?

I saw a very nicely farkled 07 last weekend for $3500. I was too late to buy it. But that is about the most I really want to spend. Who here has paid less than that for their V-Strom? Have you had to put a lot into the bike?

I paid $3,100 for an 06 with 32,xxx miles in December of 2010 from the original owner. It had some minor rash on the plastics from dirt road drops, but otherwise was generally well cared for. The only thing it needed once the riding season got underway was tires, since they were at the end and I was about to go on a trip. The bike had what I call about 2/3rds of the most popular farkles, about $1,000 worth if I remember when I did my insurance claim. It has 57,000 miles now and I am just having to do something about the fuel filter. Otherwise, no issues.

I paid $3600 over the summer for a 05 wee with 10K miles. Had all of the extras I needed (and then some) hard bags, GPS and new Anakees. They are out there if you ply the web and have cash in hand. Good luck

I paid $2950 for my '08 DL650 with 3k miles on it from a reposession place. I ended up dumping it on a trail and it was totalled. Now I am on an '06 that had 18k on it when I bought it for $2400.

There is an '06 on advrider with 28k on it for $2850 right now in Arkansas unless it sold.

11 months ago, west KY, i bought my 07 wee with 25k miles from a local dealership for $3200. Givi box (sold), stand, motech bars, givi screen, madstad brackets. Some dumbass old lady (pardon my french) backed her taurus over it 2 months ago, breaking the right front turn signal. Insurance gave me $2900 from a dealer's quote and let me keep a clean title.

Sub 3K for a Strom is going to be very rare. There are many examples of guys getting nice bikes sub 4K, but those are usually deals that get snatched up quick. Late fall is usually the right season to find a deal, so you are shopping at a good time.

I scored my 2002 Vee for $3,200 in October 2009 with 44K miles, complete with Givi racks, side bags, and trunk, heated grips, skid plate, crash bars, and several other farkles. I ended up selling a few of the farkles I didn't want for about $300 total, so I'd say the motorcycle part of the equation was well under $3K.

The owner was staring up the arse of another Michigan winter and needed the money.

The tires were toast and the chain was close to being shot, but I didn't quibble.

shop in november. I picked up a late model Wee with single-digit miles for $3800 with the factory bags. I'd give more details, but I want to make money off it when I sell it!

My wife's first Strom was a 2004 which we bought in 2011 for $2000. Had almost 50,000 miles on it, and was totally devoid of any farkles save for a Givi screen, and I think a top box. Good condition though. Oh, thinking on it, it needed a new rear shock - but the seller gave me an uninstalled new one - and needed a new rear tire.

She rode it for a year or so and then she sold it for $2000 to a buddy, who is still riding it. At that time it had a Madstad and gel seat, new tires, and a few other inexpensive add ons. She took my 2007 Strom when I bought the 2013, and she rides that now.
