Some Assembly Required?

So I bought my V-Strom used because it was a good deal.
A buddy of mine works at a dealership.

He showed me around the dealership as I was waiting for the title to come from the previous owner's lender.

Apparently all bikes come in a box and get assembled.
Can-Ams come with the whole front end removed.

Is it possible/legal to buy the bike in a box and assemble it at home?

Don't know about the legality of it. Have read story's of people picking up the crate and doing the assembly. I don't know how the dealers feel about this as they loose the assembly fee.

A guy I work with has (believe it or not) 2 P-11 Norton motorcycles still in the packing crates. He owned a dealership in the 70's and when it went under he kept all the bikes he could afford to and still has them. I think its a retirement fund kind of deal.

Peace is that brief glorious
moment in history when
everyone stands around reloading.
