Question Stator

So I just replaced my Stator. K8 Wee with ~29,000 miles on it. Heated gear and grips, but no extra lights. Soooo how common is this? It was burnt in the top about 70% of the stator. The pix I have seen almost mirrored the burn area, mine was worse than the others I have seen. So is this an issue with the Wee? does it happen often? or just an occasional failure?
Not many posts on the forums, but the posts that are alive are full of stator failures. The comments seem to indicate that it is common. So whats the answer. Common failure, or ?

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.

Yes Suzi stators and most bikes suck

I too ascribe to the oil help theory which I further expand to keeping lighter viscosity oil in there like 10 dash whatever, purpose being to better cool the stator

Lastly availability of series r/r , which I believe Greywolf is testing right now, It treats the stator better and can be finagled for about $100.

It is on my list for this winter
