Longest Day?

I was unable to find a similar thread by using the search function, although I would not be surprised if it is already out there.

I rode my 06 650 from Greenfield, Nova Scotia, B0T 1E0 to Kingston. Ontario, K7K 7C9 yesterday. I left Greenfield at 0530 and arrived Kingston 0130 (both Kingston time).

Distance was 1778 kms.

I use: Suzuki Gel Seat. GIVI Shield. 16T front sprocket.

This bike is amazing. No problems at all. Approx 37000 kms on bike now.

Mostly four lanes. 120 km/h - 135 km/h (indicated).

I am certain there are others with longer days than I.

How far did you go?

How were you set up?

Were you comfortable enough?

Is that just over 800 miles????

If I did the math right that is long in a day.

The most I have ridden has been 220 miles in a day which was a como of off road and paved roads.

Stock seat and I am looking into a Sergeant or Corbin down the road.

Back in the days of the 55mph speed limit, I did 1020 miles in about 20 hours an the Yamaha XS11. It was pretty much a ride from Chicago, up Lake Michigan, across Lake Superior, down the Mississippi River and back. I think a corner was cut or the ride would have been too long but it was a long time ago. Another trip of about the same length on the BMW R90S was a straight shot to Colorado.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

My longest day is from Manassas, VA to Orlando, FL which is around 825 miles in 17 hours. I've made the round trip (1650 miles) twice on the Strom and the last time it only took me 15 hours as I didn't need to stop so often because my ass was well-cured from constant riding.

Great question, by the way. Everyone enjoys a little humble bragging from time to time.

1187 km

My longest so far was 1187km - a Sydney to Brisbane run. Less than 100km on the highway and included just over 50 of dirt. Every twisty road I could find on the way and lot's of 80kmh zones.

My longest ride took place earlier this summer. I got stuck in traffic on I-205. It took two and a half hours to cover 4.5 miles. In 95 degree afternoon rush hour sunshine. Stuck behind a Dodge Ram diesel pickup, belching out a few tons worth of diesel cheese. And no lane splitting allowed (it's illegal in Oregon).

Now THAT was a long ride. ;-)

My longest day so far was last October when I went to Brendan's for the rally. That Friday, about 500 miles(went around Columbus to meet BigB and Fourvalve), left at 7am, arrived at Brendan's at dusk. Rode all weekend. Rode back home on Monday, 450 miles, left at 6am, got home about 230. 1250 miles all weekend. Thank goodness I got that gel seat 3 weeks before. I'd still like to do an Iron Butt run sometime.

I also do regular 200 mile days whenever I get a chance around home. Theres lots of good riding in the Laurel Highlands, especially if you have a dual-sport.

When I still lived in Dallas I did the 1,267 mile run to my parent's house in western PA straight through a few times, just over 21 hours door to door. Did it on my BMW R65 twice and on my K75S once.

On my way to Big Bend Nat'l Park in TX this past May on the Strom, did a 980 mile run in 15 hours the first day out. Once I got to the hotel where I was meeting my buddy, I thought about just running up and down the road for another 20 miles so I could officially claim a 1,000 in 1 on this bike, but I opted for the hotel bar instead. BTW, I felt very comfy on the bike during that whole ride, it just gets old droning along for that long.
