Question Homemade highway Pegs ?

Has anyone built their own highway pegs ? I would like some ideas on how to keep it as simple as possible. Like where to attach them to. I don`t want to spend the money on engine crash guards.

I've got some highway pegs that weren't homemade that are made for the v-strom I'd be willing to sell. They look similar to this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/V-STR...spagenameZWDVW

but with round pegs instead of not round.

Thanks but I want to make them myself and want to keep my plastic engine guard on. I guess I need to see how the engine guards are bolted up and go from there. I am thinking about making something out of aluminum.

ClintK:

I'd like to see those pictures. Especially as to how they mount on to the bike.

Thanks,

Tom

Do the sw motech or other similar crash bars come with new bolts, or do the use the factory bolts ?

I don't know about the SW Motech, but the Hepco & Becker bars come with crap bolts that should not be used. I like everything about the H&B bars except the hardware to mount it that they sent. Good thing it was relatively inexpensive to get new stainless A-4 bolts at Fastenal.

Dan Vesel's highway pegs are pretty good for $100. Not quite home made but I didn't think I could do as well for $100.
