Talking My "new to me" DL650

Two weeks ago, I bought a used 04 650 with just over 12,000 miles. It is in excellent condition.
Last weekend, I rode it from Louisiana to North Carolina, spent a few days there, then rode it back home. This is the first V-Strom that I've ever owned. Hell, it's the first that I've ever even ridden. It isn't fast or powerful, but man is this thing fun to ride. I had camping gear stacked as high as my head and super slabbed the majority of the trip between 85-90mph. The worst mpg that I got was around 36 and the best was around 48. It handled well on the mountain twisties. No more chicken strips on the Anakee 2's and the little studs on the bottom of the footpegs are all scraped up. I honestly wasn't expecting to be so pleased with this bike. The only problem that I has was that it ran a little rough on a couple of tanks, when I was low on fuel. After I gassed up, it ran perfectly again.
I've logged just over 3,000 miles since I bought it 2 weeks ago.

I am happy with my "new to me" Strom.

If you like the '04 then don't ride the '12-13. Concensus is they are more refined and all around better!
