Strange Smell

OK, I know that I have set myself up...but yesterday riding in a complete downpour I noticed a weird smell. Not sure how to describe it other that like something is getting hot. I had my high beam on because of the fog, so thinking it may be the relay, I turned it off, but the smell persisted. I do not appear to be leaking any coolant. I have been burning a little oil, which is unusual. And I did fill up at some little place in Podunk, ME - maybe I got some old gas. After sniffing around, it does seem t be coming from the exhaust. I'm about 2000 miles from home...

Strom smell

Not a problem , I smelled it off my '09 wee too , also yesterday in the rain .
I believe it's road grime on the exhaust header and rad , steaming up through the hole in the fairing . Sometimes it's really strong after riding through mud puddles .
Ride on ! It was good to meet you at the leaf peeper tour .

Alex

PS - that wasn't Podunk , Maine . Podunk is in New Hampshire .

Not all my lucid moments are consecutive .

Thanks Alex. It did seem to be coming from the fairing at first. I wasn't overly concerned, so just kept going, but wanted some more input. I will press on. Great to meet you too. Last weekend (my first meet) set the bar pretty high for group rides...

Actually, Podunk is in good ol' Massachusetts...it's a village in the town of East Brookfield.
