Riding suits?

Lately I've been thinking about a full 1 piece riding suit like the Joe Rocket survivor. This would be for multi-day rides and extended day rides. What is your experience with riding suits? Pros/cons? Comfort and various weather? Most importantly, protection?

I used a 1-piece Fieldshear for a year or so.........toasty warm when cold, and good padding. The negative I found was when I tried to change in/out of it inside the tent......difficult (for me.....and I'll admit, I'm not the most "athletic" build..... :mrgreen. During a V-strom a few years ago, I went on a Group Ride and we stopped for lunch at a cafe. While everyone else had "shed" their jackets to sit down and eat, I had to leave my suit on......or spend more time scooting in/out of it before and after lunch. I found it too awkward. I like the looks......they are probably less prone to leakage when raining........and fit "like a glove" from head to toe if purchased in the right size, but I gave in to the two piece for convienence. Just my opinion.....others may be perfectly happy with their 1-piece.

I love my Aerostich!

Mine is a two piece but because of how it zips together it functions exactly like a one piece.

Commute with it and wear a suit and tie under it most work days. It takes about 15 seconds to put on and about 10 to get off. It breathes well, is pretty waterproof, is comfy and is just a good piece of kit. It costs a lot but less than the three different riding ger setups I had prior to getting it.

There are times when a one piece suit is the best. Cold weather and rain (assuming it is rain proof) for instance. They can be a bit faster to put on. I like the feel of a one piece. I have a waterproof one piece and a mesh one piece.

The negatives are: they are too bulky to fold up and put in most side cases so you either have to leave them on the bike ( maybe lock them down with a cable and lock) or wear them in where you are stopping. While they can be easy to put on, you cannot take just the jacket off while fueling or getting a quick bite to eat. Unless you have a mesh suit, they are HOT at temps over 75 degrees! While there is some relief in the vents, none I have found have any effective venting for your lower torso/legs and that is what becomes unbearable for me.

There is no perfect suit. If I could have only one GOOD suit it would be a two piece.
