Suzuki OEM Luggage mounts

Hey Stromies,

Has anyone installed saddlebag mounts WITHOUT the top case mount? I bought the OEM side case mounts for soft luggage and possible future upgrade to the Suzuki hard cases, then read the fine print and discovered you cant mount the side mounts without the top. I dont want to spend over $200 just to mount soft luggage. I got them yesterday and I havent opened them yet, but i wanted to know if maybe with some different hardware or minor mods i could fit them to the bike without the top case? Does anyone know how feasible this is? Thanks in advance ... squeegee

I love ridin' my "FREAK"!

Two of the three mounting points for the side case rack on my DL1000K5 are on the top case rack (see attached picture). Might be a lot of work to make it work without the top rack....

That is correct. The OEM top case rack can be mounted solo, but the side cases are dependant on the rop case rack.

I ran into this when I bought my bike. It had factory side cases installed and a factory top case. The top case itself was on a massive back order so I was looking for other options. Was going to buy the Givi top case, but found out I couldn't change the top case mount without loosing the side cases.

Ended up swapping the whole system out for Givi. Irony is that the Zuk top case arrived the same day the Givi did, so I know have two complete sets, factory and Givi.:???:

In case you change your mind, I just bought the Suzuki top case and mount and I only paid $122 CDN for the top mount. Cheap considering it replaces the entire rear rack and looks great.

I'm running the reverse: OEM topcase with Givi sidecases and racks.
