Sargent seat issue

After riding 3200 miles on the stock seat I decided it was time to up grade to a more comfortable seat so after reading a bunch of threads on seat comparisons I picked the Sargent for my 2012 DL1000.Purchaced it from RevZilla, great company for low prices, service and shipping IMO.Put the seat on,took it for a test ride and rite away I could tell that I was sitting further back and had more of a bucket for my butt to sit in.Other than noticing that the bars were going to be needed to be moved back every thing felt good so I rode back to my shop and there stood the wife wanting to test ride her half. She got on and we didn't get out the driveway before she started bashing me in the back of the head and saying that I had srcewed it all up and never thought about anyone but myself.Sure nuff with the top box on and her sitting all the way back her crotch was a good 2in. into my bucket and I'm pushed forward on the seat in a very uncomfortable position. No way was the seat going to work as is so I promised I'd fix it.Thank goodness I'm blessed to be a fabricater welder by trade so I was able to do this.I moved the docking post back 2and1/2 in on the top box platform, then fabed a bracket for the latch receiver to move it back the same distance, then got the wife back on for a ride.Every thing fit and felt really good so she's happy and the dog got his house back.Unless your bride looks like a zipper with her tongue stuck out you too will probably have the same issues if you ride 2 up with a top box so heads up before you get a Sargent seat.I all so had to buy Rox risers to get the bars back where they needed to be,but I had 15.00 worth of Zilla bucks that I earned on the seat purchace from RevZilla that put the price around 56.00 for the risers and free shipping.

Hell no I'm not happy! I'd be happy if I was still sitting on the the stock seat and my ass wasn't hurting after a couple of hours of riding and I had the 370 bucks it cost me to cure the problem.

Sargent has, or had, a return policy if your not happy with the seat. I returned mine, but I can't remember if I bought direct through them or another vendor.

The biggest thing I learned through reading all the seat threads here is that there is no "best" seat, it's all personal, and a bit of a crap shoot. Some people cure the seat problem very simply and easily, and others try every seat and every trick in the book with no success. These people usually end up with a Russell and are happy, which is what happened to me. If you feel you fall into the second camp you might save money by getting a Russell sooner rather than later, you can even get your wife's section custom made for her.

I have a sergeant seat and my wife has the same complaint. When we ride 2 up I take the back box off and she's fine. We don't take long tips together so it works for me/us.
