Anyone install a Wideband O2 (Air/Fuel) sensor?

I have an Innovate LC1 Wideband O2 sensor and data recorder.
(Similar to a DynoJet Wideband Commander -- same sensor, only no display or internal logging)

This worked wonders on my DRZ-400SM for tuning the carb.

I was hoping the DL1000K7 would have a bung for it, but instead of a threaded bung, I see only a "flat spot" on the pipe union where, on Euro bikes, the narrowband O2 sensor might live. (Just inward from the vertical rear brake tie rod.) Bummer.

I've searched the part manuals, but don't see any reference to a different part# for the Euro bike pipe union. I imagine those replacement parts ship with the bung in place, no?

Anyone drilled and welded on this? Is there a better place to put the O2 sensor?

Am I nuts for thinking I can work up my own PCIII map? :twisted:

I've tried the FuelMoto map published here, and it's not giving me any joy. It killed my top end (lean), and very low speed has become lumpy and lurching. Maybe the '07 ECU has a different factory map already?

First step is to measure the Air/Fuel, so I thought I'd start with that. If anyone has done this, I'd love to hear about your setup.

Clearly an overwhelming interest in Air/Fuel metering.

That aside, can anyone recommend a trustworthy bike shop in San Diego that can do oddball welding projects like this?

Specifically, they would have to drill the stock pipe and weld a stainless bung to it. I have the bung already. I'm just a few skills and one MIG-welder short of being able to do it.

Any pointers to a good San Diego shop would be much appreciated. I'd rather get this done right than screw up my stock pipe union.

Bonus points if they can do it right on the bike.

Didn't see your post before. I think it's a great idea. Haven't used one myself, but if I were doing any serious tuning I would do something similar, or take it to a shop.
I have heard of using spark plug inserts to make an 02 bung. If I remember right, I read that on the megasquirt site. May be a simpler solution.

The bung itself is pretty cheap. It's just a stainless steel threaded ring, really.

I have one, with a matching plug, ready to go. (Some people use spark plugs as O2 bung plugs, but hey..)

I just need to find a shop that can weld it onto the union pipe right where the Euro bikes get one for free.
