Heated Grips

Could anyone tell me why the right hand grip (throttle) gets really hot and the left hand grip doesn't?

The right hand grip is insulated from the handlebar by the plastic throttle tube. Good grips or their instructions will compensate by better insulation, a hotter left grip, or instructions to insulate the left handlebar.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

Sorry about the avatar!
So your saying I need to insulate the left hand grip, the steel handlebar is absorbing the heat. Makes sense. Could I use tape?

The left grip will warm up as soon as the actual metal of the bar warms up. Five to ten minutes and everything should be even temps.

Mate I recon it's a thread asking why the right one's warmer . I recon it's warmer because her heart is under the right one as you look at the avatar.
