I'm reading LWD now. Have not read LWR, though.

Love them so much we had to get them on DVD. Fun to watch when the Colorado snow hits or right before a trip. Gets you into the right frame of mind.

Looks like I'm way behind the times as usual. I'm gathering these are motorcycle expedition books and movies and good ones. True?

If so, what's recommended - books or movies - or both?

I'm interested either way.

Thanks.

The Long Way Down is on Mondays channel 267 Pivot on Direct TV. I liked the series so much that I ended up buying both series plus the DVD The Race to Dakar with Charley Boreman in it.

I've got both movies. Definitely the best motorcycle movies I've ever seen. I'm about half way through the LWD book and I like it. There's a far bit of commentary thats not in the movie. However, both of these guys are actors who clearly lead a, um, different life style than most of us, so you have to get past that part.

I like how they spent at least a little bit of time sharing some of the behind the scenes preparation. At least they did in LWR. They didn't spend quite as much time on it in LWD.

I have also seen The Race to Dakar. I didn't like it near as much as LWR / LWD, but it is definitely worth watching at least once.
