Do you really need a number to tell you what gear your in? Just look at the RPM's and who cares what gear it is.. Thats my 2c.

Yeah it must suck to have a gear indicator on the new 650's. I had one on my C14 and an old GS550, and I quite liked it.

I have one, GIPro-DS, the model without the ATRE. Pros: it works as advertised. Cons: you can shift faster than it can keep up. I just like knowing what gear I am at, at my age I sometimes forget.

Installation was pretty easy. Hardest part was finding the dealer mode (diagnostic) connector. If I remember correctly, mine was attached under the tip over switch, on the left side between the battery and the tray. Limited cable length and limited working space did result in a few words of persuasion.

I mounted it on the tach face. Will take a photo if interested.

I had to remove the tank on my 2012 DL1000 to get to the wireing harness in order to plug it in.It is located on the left side between the frame and throttle bodies.I read some where on this forum that it could be done with out having to remove the tank and just propping it up would work, but wanting to route the harness up to the dash and making sure it was not touching any hot spots and tie strapping it neatly I removed my tank.I didn't like the idea of looking at a big brite red no. shining up or around the instrument cluster so I used the Velcro strip to attach it to the medal fairing bracket located under the dash and in front of the triple tree.I can see it only if I want to and yes it does work as described.

I ordered one and just got it delivered last week... plan to install it soon and will be mounting it on an already installed "Rick's Auxiliary Shelf" which I had previously ordered with a cut-out for the GIpro

I have the GI Pro with ATRE on my '06 Wee and love it. Yeah, I'm old and can't keep up with 6 gears very well. Before I installed it, I was constantly trying to shift into 6th when I was already in the 6th. No more of that nonsense.
