Need HELP!!! w/ Adventure Skidplate

Can anyone give me some advice??

I'm installing the Adventure Motostuff Skidplate, and the REAR bracket, LEFT side...the nut where the rear skidplate attaches, is right below the exhaust pipe. Almost NO room between it and the exhaust pipe. NO way to insert the bolt without the bolt contacting the exhaust.

I'm sure I have the bracket on correct, as it really only fits one way.

2005 DL1000

Any suggestions??

Thanks in advance.

Matt

I installed the same plate recently on mine. If you're referring to the allen-head bold that goes straight up through the skidplate and rear cross bracket, I recall having the same experience. I just went out and looked, the tip of the bolt does make contact with the pipe, just a bit. I'm not too worried about it.

Thanks smaher65, I didn't think I had it on wrong...as it will really only go on one way...but this isn't acceptable to me. The least little bash to the skidplate will result in damaging my exhaust...not to mention the rattle this contact will create. All they need to do is move the hole over .5".

I'm calling them tomorrow, and if they say this is how it is, I'm going to request my money back on the crash bars and skidplate.

We'll see.....

Mine did not quit touch, until I actually used the plate. Now my exhaust has a fairly large dent and the end of the bolt is right against the exhaust. When I change oil I will be shortening the bolt.
