Big THANKS to Big B!!!

Let me start this with a quote from the best motorcycle author ever...Peter Egan.

"I once made a friend with a man because he traveled from somewhere to nowhere, and I had done the same....on a motorcycle. On a motorcycle, it's not the destination, it's the journey...and that's what brought us together."

I had been making myself sick for weeks....searching for THE bike. My next bike that would take me to all the places I wanted to go...and all the places I'd never been.

When I started reading about the V-Strom, and through finding this forum, my mind was made up. It was to be my next bike.

The amount of information on this forum is amazing!!!
Thank you for starting it Brendan.
I look forward to meeting you someday.

Though this forum I also found Brian(Big B).
You couldn't ask to meet a nicer guy. A very nice house and family too.
We meet today, as we live very close, and he helped me wrench on the bike some. He adjusted my Throttle Bodies and we installed new handlebars. If not for our shared passion for motorcycles...and for the this forum, none of this would have ever been possible.
Thank you for the help Brian, and thank your wife for having me over today too!!

I hope that everyone who uses this forum finds a friend like I've found in Brian.

Thanks!!!

Glad to hear that you are personallizing your ride. I expect that the new bars will make a significant improvement in control and comfort. Did you file off the nipples on the controls or did you drill into the bar?

B is a TBS monster. How much were they off and how much better did it perform after the adjustment? At his tech day last month he sync'd like 4 bikes in about 60 min. And all of them appeared to run so much smoother. Friends like that are very good to have indeed.

The handlebars are a GREAT improvement!!!
Very easy to put on with someone elses help, and they feel awesome.

I brought a Dremel Tool to file the nubs off the controls and the raised grooves on the throttle grip. It worked great...except when I was done there were tiny black plastic shavings everywhere. Brian fixed that though...he blew the bike and me off with his leaf blower !!

The throttle bodies were pretty far off. When he adjusted then, you could literally HEAR the bike run smoother. Its noticeably smoother riding it too. And my idle was way low too...below 1k, but it's good now too!!!

B's the TBS man for sure!!!

This is truly a great forum, and I have met some great friends here. Matt will be a great contributor to the site.....and he does know a thing or 2 about motobikes. Thanks for the VERY kind words, and you are welcome over anytime you want. Looking forward to a long lasting friendship, with you and all my other Strom pals.

We had a good time wrenching, it is always more fun to work with others "at least I think so". Went and had a steak dinner and headed up to bikenight, probably 4 thousand plus people there. Quite enjoyed the people watching....sure was some interesting people there, kinda looked like a halloween party.

Wait till you see his bike after he gets all of his farkles, it is gonna be SWEEETTTT.

Brian

Godfathers

You found yours and I found mine. Mightyshep.
I was brand new to the Vee and knew nothing about the "typical" issues.
He opened his garage to me and helped me with:
TBS (twice), Clutch fluid, PC III maps, Throttle sensor, GPS power wiring, skid plate...
This will show you two things; my mechanical incompetence and his patience.
What a great thing is make new friends, especially through motorcycling.
Thank you Shep and have a safe/fun trip to Tennesse.
