ATGATT and RoadRash, a reminder.

Well it is sort of V-Strom related.

The reason we should all remember to wear ATGATT [All The Gear All The Time].

Hitting the road in lightweight clothing is just not worth it.

Have a look at all the pics attached to the story and maybe re-think your "just popping down to the corner shop" riding gear.

If you can't be bothered putting on the proper jacket/pants/boots/gloves then just take the car, it is not worth the pain.

Ouch! I shake my head every time I see a rider in a t-shirt and shorts.

Worse still- over here they wear shorts, a singlet and thongs [those rubber flip flop things for the feet, not that fantastic sexy underwear all the hot women wear to turn us men on ].

Earlier this year I spotted a Strom rider on a trail in the Blue Mountains [local riding area near me] barrelling along a 4WD track at speed, wearing shorts, sneakers and sunglasses- nothing else..... WTF

Personally I have some level of self preservation built in to my instincts [maybe not enough, but at least some :biggrinjester: ].

Please people, gear up!

... or at least wear knee pucks. :biggrinjester:

Proper motorcycle training is like wearing a helmet. You can ride for 30 years without one and make a case that you've never needed it. Until you do but then it's too late to make that decision.

I hope "Mr Muscles" managed to hold that bike up off her, looks like he is at least trying to.

Ockerstrom,

You live in a country which immortalized Darwin by naming a city after him.

I work in a trauma center and have concluded that much of what we see for trauma patients are the result of not being smart enough to do basic things to keep one's self alive. There are some truly innocent victims in trauma situations but the vast majority are their because of their decision making abilities...

Always hate seeing that!!
Having lived in middle-eastern countries for a while where its 40-50C (100-125F) in summer makes me have no problem wear all my leather gear all the time in the hottest days here in Nova Scotia.
Really hate that my brother just finished MSF and got his license and he's most of the time squiding in a t-shirt, shorts and sneakers and i dont stop preaching about how important it is to wear full gear :/

I'm always grateful there are people like this who overestimate their own abilities or simply increase their risk br riding unprotected. Keeps me busy as well as employed. Really no different than smoking, obesity or poorly managed diabetes. The information is out there people just choose to ignore it and pretend they are immune.

That's got to REALLY HURT!! When the weather is nice I'll take my glee to work. I ride 17 miles one way and 14 of those miles are 3 lane interstate and I ALWAYS ride ATGATT. I'm amazed at how many people have only goggles/eyewear as a protective measure while riding. When I see these people I can't help but think if they wipe out doing 65-80 miles and hour the paramedics are going to need a spatula and a baster to get them off the road. My favorite is when the squids have the helmet strapped to the rear rack of the bike and they have sunglasses on.
