Possible to install headlight bulbs upside down?

Put new PIAA Xtreme White bulbs in my headlights last week, and while out on a spin I got 10-12 cars and trucks flashing me thinking I had my high beams on (I didn't).

So yesterday I tried shining my lights on a wall and it seems the "dipped" lights are vertically higher than the high beam and look a bit duller. Maybe the dullness is coming from the hact that I have Hella Micre DE Xenon (damn they are bright) lights mounted and relayed to the high beam. The could be drawing voltage from the high beams (but it shouldn't be that drastic).....

I did the above test during the day so perhaps the daylight was another factor.
